What they wanted.
Orreco is a world-leading sports and data science company that specialises in working with some of the world’s elite sports stars including Premier League soccer clubs, Olympic track stars and golfers such as Graeme McDowell and Padraig Harrington. It wanted to explain its complex work — around analysing scientific data in order to improve the performance of elite athletes — in simple terms and raise the company’s profile in the Irish and global media. Orreco also required content creation for its own website as well as original storytelling for use across its various social media platforms.
What we did.
We worked with Orreco on telling its story in a more accessible way. We work-shopped stories in jargon-free language and created story angles that would appeal to journalists, rather than turn them off. Once the story of the company was clear, we activated our network of contacts, developed over 20 years in journalism. The results were impressive with deep reads and on-going exposure in a range of media outlets including The Guardian, The Washington Post, The Irish Times, Irish Independent, RTE, The Sunday Business Post and Silicon Republic.
What they said.
“We engaged StoryLab to help us to explain to performance coaches, team owners and athletes how we can help them when they take step onto the pitch, track or golf course or take part in an Olympic Games. We wanted to avoid blinding people with science without shying away from the fact that there is almost 20 years of peer-reviewed research underpinning what we do. StoryLab have worked with us on everything from web content to media releases and initiated our belated (we were busy with the science!) foray into blogging. We trust StoryLab implicitly and see our relationship growing from strength to strength in the years to come.”
