We’re just catching our breaths after putting up the ‘house full’ sign on another successful Story School, for brands and organisations.
Together with our friends at Bua Marketing, the class took place in Sligo’s shiny and impressive new Building Block co-working space.
Crafting better content and stories to raise profile, telling those stories to the media and navigating digital marketing in 2018, were the core topics.
Attendees at Story School included local authorities, individuals and brands working across areas including HR and recruitment, tech, music, engineering and telecoms.
The immersive workshop explored how brands can communicate better using simpler language, great images and quality video.
Pitching story ideas to journalists was a topic tackled by our guest speaker Gillian Nelis, the managing editor of the Sunday Business Post.
Gillian recounted some of the PR ‘no nos’ that she has experienced in her long career including being sent a live goldfish and a box of PR glitter that exploded all over her. Her top story tips included knowing the audience of the publication you are pitching to, familiarising yourself with the journalist’s work, and being aware of deadlines.
