There are no strangers here, only videos you haven’t seen yet

"There are no strangers here, only friends you haven't met yet” — did the poet WB Yeats really say that?

Maybe he did, maybe he didn’t. What we do know is that he is instrumental in making tourists fall in love with Ireland – and Sligo in particular.

Just across the road from the Sligo Park Hotel is a sign that proclaims ‘Welcome to Yeats Country’ – and it was a message the hotel embraced when it recently hosted the ‘Green Suite’ – featuring rugby legend Brian O’Driscoll as guest speaker.

Video storytelling played a central role in the staging of the business-focused event, with the hotel using the opportunity to showcase the hotel not only to the invited guests on the evening, but to friends it hadn’t met yet.

A video marketing strategy for the Green Suite was designed to help the Sligo Park Hotel build relationships with existing clients AND with future guests, earning confidence in the brand and driving awareness of its capabilities.

StoryLab worked with Lee Hotels, owners of the Mespil Hotel in Dublin and the Sligo Park to showcase the recent €4m investment in the property.

As well as Brian O’Driscoll, the Green Suite included special contributions from Failte Ireland’s Head of the Wild Atlantic Way, Miriam Kennedy and Drumshanbo Irish Gunpowder Gin founder PJ Rigney.

A specially commissioned 90-second promo video was shown to guests on the night, featuring the hotel’s staff and guests at work and play, all amid the plush surrounds of the newly unveiled facilities.

As well as providing the wow factor, the video focused on messaging from Hotel General Manager Gerard Moore about the hotel’s offering and enviable position on the Wild Atlantic Way, as well as an overview of the business investment.

As guests watched on the night, they were being filmed for another quick turnaround video, released days later, which captured all the highlights of the glitzy evening.

As well as acting as a record of the night and an overview of the new investment, the videos have already been deployed as valuable marketing collateral by the Sligo Park, providing quality content for its social channels and other promotional material.
