PR: ATU

What they wanted.

With IT Sligo, Letterkenny IT and Galway and Mayo IT merged to form the new Atlantic Technological University (ATU) in 2022, the new university needed PR and Content support to engage audiences and stakeholders and raise awareness about the new institution. Not only was it important to tell people about the launch of ATU, it was vital for the new university to remind people that its lengthy track record of academic experience in the IT sector would underpin its new identity.

What we did.

StoryLab created a comprehensive media strategy to inform people about the launch of ATU and its credentials as a university. We developed a suite of stories that focused on high-level research projects carried out by ATU academics, for use in media and organised online briefing sessions for media and the ATU’s incoming president. In addition, we produced short social videos featuring key figures across industry, sport and other walks of life in the Western and North Western region, turning supporters of the new university into active advocates. We also managed Media and Press communications for ATU’s formal inauguration announcement and launch event.

What they said.

“We hired the services of StoryLab for the launch of Atlantic Technological University in 2022.  This involved the dissolving of three institutions with over 50 years of reputation into one new university for the region of the west and northwest of Ireland.  StoryLab were key in getting this message out to all our external stakeholders and also gaining their support in the lead up to our launch.  StoryLab managed to capitalise on media coverage for the launch with great national coverage in print, radio and television, securing primetime news slots on RTE and TG4. During the time we worked with Storylab, they more than doubled our AVE from an average of €500,000 per month to €1.2 milion. The delivery of service and the general support was beyond expectations.”
