Charity Festival promises a weekend of adventure and laughs

Festival season is nearly upon us so it’s time to get out your wellies and tents for a wonderfully busy and fun-filled summer.

If you’re looking for an adventure-themed weekend, then Havin’ A Laugh, a charity adventure festival is just the ticket.

Taking place in Sligo from Friday, June 30 to Sunday, July 2, Havin’ A Laugh isn’t your typical festival. What sets this event apart is its ethos of raising awareness around mental health through an exciting and diverse range of adventure and wellness activities.

And one of the best things is that it is all being organised and run by volunteers – with the proceeds going back into helping people who may be struggling with their mental health.

Blaithin Sweeney, one of the festival founders and organisers, gave an interview to the Irish Independent last month explaining the positive benefits that living a healthy and engaged life can have on mental health.

Activities — from beach horse riding and freediving to surfing and yoga — will be happening all over the county and the weekend culminates in an outdoor live music event at the festival’s permanent site at Annaghmore estate on Saturday, July 1. Speakers at Annaghmore will include legendary local surfer Easkey Britton, who recently launched the event with Blaithin.

So, if you’re up for a laugh and a bit of adventure, then check out the Havin’ A Laugh Adventure Fest website for tickets and a full program.
